John Chatterton, Cellist

I have known John for a long time now as a friend and musical colleague in high school and at SUNY Fredonia. Unfortunately we had never collaborated on a project until two weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon I invited John to come in and record some solo cello performance. The goals of the project were to have a good time and make some good music. Meanwhile, it was also my maiden solo voyage as a recording engineer in Studio A. John walked in well prepared to a studio that was fully setup when he got there. I like to make sure no one is waiting on me.

Overall the recording was a great experiencw for everyone involved. I look forward to working with John and his quartet in the future.

Here’s a sample of a contemporary solo by George Crumb.
